Fog lights are specifically designed to provide a wide and low beam of light that helps illuminate the road surface directly ahead and the immediate area right in front of the vehicle. They are positioned lower on the vehicle and are angled to minimize the amount of light that is reflected back by the fog, thus enhancing visibility when necessary. In contrast, keeping your speed the same may not be wise as reduced visibility often requires a slowdown to maintain control and reaction time. Driving with windows down offers no benefits in fog, and it actually may increase distractions and noise that could compromise focus.
